Robert Pollock, EDAS and Regional Development Solutions
Robert first gave an overviewing of EDAS, a 3000-member organisation that supports the public, private and third sector with CPD, networking and informing policy change and practice. 
He added that the time was right for the wellbeing economy, referencing previous events with economic development professionals that underlined the question of, "not why, but when?"  He summated his talk into four sesections, as per the below: 
1.Broad reflections on principles
The philosophy of wellbeing economy is to ensure economy is a means to an end, rather than an end to itself. It should be an economy that delivers economic, social and environmental justice. An economic system that encompasses respect, inclusion, purpose and empowerment. 
A philosophy that engages the local, regional, national and international. 
2.Why we need to adopt in Scotland and Europe
Emerging and current challenges, such as Covid-19, austerity, inequality, wealth accumulation and economic crisis of unbalanced structural changes, coupled with removing access to fair and rewarding work for citizens and young people. Climate emergency. 
We must revisit foci of economic and policy interventions and look at our 'vulnerable policies'; can we support inward investment after Brexit? Can services thrive in a consumer-led economy. The actions plan now look fated.
There is a fork in the road in our policy and we must choose to continue down the familiar policy road, or create new, innovative policy with people and planet in mind. 
3.Consider steps taken to date

Scotland's First Minister has outlined importance of a wellbeing economy. 
4.How do we compel Wellbeing Economy going forward?
The timing is vital and we need rapid fundamental change, which is possible. The scale of intent is important, and it's no longer an 'add-on' policy. 
We must frame Wellbeing Economy as  local, regional, national, international and,
Reimagine skills and capacity of public servants. 
Develop capacity for change in local communities. 
And ask ourselves: If not now, when?
