Thank you my teacher. Thank you that you belong to a group of professionals that is worthy of every child’s honour, every parents appreciation and everyone’s salute. Thank you for choosing to belong to a sacrificial but noble and indispensable profession that has existed from time immemorial. Thank you for choosing to belong to a profession where members acquire knowledge at all costs but dispense it cheerfully with great sense of responsibility, and sometimes freely. You have the capacity to befriend and win any child in your world. You have direct impacts on the life of every child, and your duties determine the rest of a child’s life. Your ability to simply believe, accommodate, and freely love every child is of great interest to me. More interesting is the fact that whoever goes by the tittle’ child’ automatically get used to you almost immediately they are brought to you. You name ‘teacher’ is beyond a mere professional name. it is indeed a special name whose mention reverberates across the planet, among the high and the low of our society. Your influence spans east to west and bridges the gap between the north and the south. I now reason that all your faculties are specially built so you can function the way you do. I discovered that anyone could be sad in the classroom except you; only you seem to have the antidote. Though your hands move in duty your eyes never miss any detail. This connection notwithstanding, your ears pick not only every word but also every voice of the people in your constituency. Within your twenty-four hours a day, vast a time you have to match a bank of knowledge that accommodates all of little children’s questions. As for courage you have enough for your duty and to freely share unto many as little children under your care. You simply believed that I could read and write if you taught me. The only times it seemed you were afraid were moments I was going to places or doing things you considered to be wrong. Thank you teacher for leading me in the path of success in life. Now that I am wiser I do think that all of these abilities that I sense around me do not just revolve around my personal efforts and the unwise propensities of the younger years but a rear product and a master piece derived from the whole great work of my teacher.Now that am wiser, it’s easier for me to reason that out of all professionals, my teacher’s work is the most enduring.Here comes the brick and mortar builder. He reasons that his job is worthy of utmost priority. Well, I agree that his profession and work be prioritized. But in all sense of fairness, how do you compare the job of brick and mortar builder to that of a mind builder. A mistake made on brick and mortar may truly be catastrophic, yet a mistake on the mind is even more. Without a whole mind there couldn’t exist a whole brick. I hope the engineer and my society understand and come to terms with the fact that he is more of an engineer who builds the mind than he that designs and builds the most exquisite structures of the world. It takes only a whole mind to build a whole structure.The flesh builder reasons thus, “I can build the flesh, therefore, give me the greatest attention.”Come to think of it. How do you compare the work of a flesh builder to the work of a mind builder? It takes only the most gifted and patient builder to ever succeed in building another person’s mind since the mind is something hidden and it is also the most fragile component in humans. A mistake made on the flesh cannot be compared to a mistake made on the mind. That of the flesh may be patched but not so with the mind. That of the flesh may be covered and hid with the cloths never to be discovered, but not so with the mind. A mistake made on the mind may not only lead to loss of a life but its effects can also transcend the present into the far and endless future. In fact, it may cause the complete extinction of the whole of the future. Teachers are noble.
