Abuse, Hazing, and High Suicide Rates in the Russian Military

How does malicious and unfortunate behavior inside the Russian Military contribute to the theme of Society? Suicides and fatal road accidents make up a high share of deaths in Russia’s military, so it is causing the Russian military to be concerned. Despite downward trends, 44% of deaths among military conscripts are suicides, while only 4% happen in the line of duty. Obviously, this is a big problem, but it seems the root of the problem is having and abuse- not having with alcohol, but forcing young soldiers to take part in rigorous physical training and humiliating acts. And then, there is just plain bullying and torture within the military as well. In fact, around 12% of all crimes committed within the ranks in 2019 were related to hazing. In 2018, more than 1,100 military personnel were convicted on charges of abuse of power, and 372 for violence. In my opinion, abuse within is leading to the high suicide rates. These problems relate to society because it discusses mortality rates, crime, violence, and the level of happiness, if you will, inside the Russian Army. It shows a very real problem in the society and life for people in the Russian military and how the grater society in Russia as a whole may turn a blind eye to this problem. Reading the sources, it really seems as if these problems, mostly hazing, are behaviors deep rooted into the military's society, at least they are not new problems that have arose just recently; sadly, its still going on today, but also continued through the many past decades.
