The ultimate aim is to replace my 14.04 with the new Unity, but first I wanted to see if this all works.
I have tried the following options but have had no luck.
Commenting out all but casper_init (to get a basic boot)
Removing the casper-rw file and rebooting
Removing the casper-rw file and rebooting into a live usb
Creating a new casper-rw file and rebooting
Boot from live USB, choose the language, choose "try ubuntu"
Now I just open the file casper-rw, create a new casper-rw file in the root folder and have it write to it.
When I reboot I just get a black screen. I can move the mouse around, but nothing else happens. The mouse cursor is spinning as if it is waiting for something to happen. If I press Enter it then does nothing. If I open a terminal and run it, then it tells me
What's going on? I am struggling to get the LiveUSB to boot. I'm thinking the USB is the issue as when I was using 13.10 the live USB's worked fine. With 14.04 it's been a different story.
Can someone please help and share what worked for them.
