 I can filter information with grep and such, but if there is data in the line it filters out, it doesn't display it. I have tried to put echo statements in a script, but it seems that those aren't part of the logging.

 rsyslog seems to be what they used in the DOS days to manage logs. Can I do anything with it, though? I can't figure out if it is standard or if there are better programs for it
