Hello, Crossroads Family!

First, I'd like to thank everyone for a busy and GREAT month of February!

There was much excitement generated by our first Variety Show: A Story of Kindness for which we owe our thanks to Mrs. Pagendam and Mrs. Willms for their time and effort volunteering as coordinators of the event. Our Coyotes were spectacular, and their messages of kindness were the perfect complement to our month focused on respecting everyone in our school community. Additionally, we were fortunate to have members of Brave Space under the guidance of Mr. Murray teach us through daily announcements about Black History Month and Black Excellence. It truly was a month of celebrating diversity and identity!

Our grade 3 and 6 students completed the mid-year assessment, the grade 4s did CCAT, the Intermediate Boys and Girls Basketball teams did a fantastic job representing our school under the coaching of Mr. Murray, Mrs. Kroeker, Mr. Nekacov, and Mrs. Romanowich-McConkey and we'd like to thank our coaches for volunteering their time to give our students this opportunity! As well, we saw the Learning Commons and Maker Space start to transform under the creative and dedicated supervision of Ms. Inglis and her Learning Commons Club and we look forward to seeing what they have in store! Stay tuned for before and during photos (as a work in progress, there may not be after pictures!)! Thanks too, to Ms. Ho for coaching Lego Robotics, Mr. Schirru and Mrs. Kroeker for coaching Junior Boys and Girls Basketball, Mrs. Pagendam for offering the Primary Dance Club, Mme Peters for coaching our Chess Club and team, Mrs. Bereczky for coordinating the submissions to the Legion for the Remembrance Day Poetry and Artwork Contest (for which we had SEVEN prize winners!), Mrs. Pahuta-Ruller for coordinating Lunch Room Monitors, Mrs. Willms for conducting the Primary Choir, Ms. Inglis for inspiring the Learning Commons Club, Mr. Murray for supporting Brave Space...breathe! Yes - it's a busy, exciting place to be a kid in school!

And of course, March started with another exceptional NOTL Home, Garden & Craft Show! Many thanks go to Ashleigh Dixon (Coordinator), Carrie Plaskett (School Council Chair & Volunteer Coordinator), Ashley Thwaites & Emma Thwaites (Vendor Coordinators), Matt Dietsch (BBQ Coordinator), Sharon Velsink (Bake Sale Coordinator), Mrs. Romanowich-McConkey & Mrs. Willekes (Raffle Coordinators), and the CRD staff who all worked tirelessly to make the event such a success! Thank you for sponsoring us, volunteering with us, donating prizes, and having a great time with us at the Show!

There is lots in store as Spring springs...Carousel Players performances, field trips, EQAO, the Art Show, Grade 8 Graduation, Badminton, Track & Field, Junior Basketball, Artshine, Lego Robotics Club, Lego Club, Chess Club, PALS, Mismatched Socks Day for Down Syndrome Awareness, Autism Awareness Day, Den Days...and that doesn't include all of the incredible learning that continues to happen day in and day out at this amazing school!

Once again, thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us. Their smiles and energy are contagious, and we feel very grateful to spend our days learning with and from children that continue to inspire and motivate us to do our best!
