Youths are usually seen busily browsing through the shops to buy souvenirs. More elaborate purchases such as sarongs, bags, hats, shoes, and even gilt-framed pictures of deities are available.
Small stalls selling a variety of items, including household goods, woven wares and handicrafts, are usually set up in the market.
Culture
Vilambi is a place of the great devotion to Vishnu. There are many Hindu temples in the village. The most prominent among them are the Mahisamgara, Bhairav, and Shiva temple.
Vedic astrology and agriculture are important aspects of village life.
There are many Hindu and Jain temples and many villages in the state. In addition, the state has a rich culture and art tradition. The Maharaja of Vizianagaram is well known for his artistic and architectural creations.
The village people are fond of their rich cultural heritage. Many of them follow Hindu rituals, but some are practising Jainism. Hindu festivals are very popular, especially the Makar Sankranti and Baisakhi in which they celebrate.
Education
The first schools in the region began to emerge in 1880. Currently, two schools are serving the villagers of Vilambi. The schools have the primary school syllabus up to the ninth grade, and the higher secondary school syllabus up to the twelfth grade.
Prayer
The people of Vilambi have established a formal prayer group, under the leadership of Sapta Santi Swaroop, who is a Vedic scholar. The prayer group performs self-purification at the Hindu temples. The prayer group also conducts seminars, study sessions, and social functions.
Festivals
The people of Vilambi celebrate many festivals. The most important of them are
1. Shivaratri: A very famous Hindu festival. On the day of Shivaratri, devotees perform the seven-day Yajna ritual. A huge bonfire is lit to commemorate the day.
2. Makara Sankranti: It is also known as Amavasya in Sanskrit. The festival commemorates the beginning of winter. The festival is marked by the “Ki Nayak”, who performs various poojas.
3. Sankranti: It is observed for two days.
