Tesla CEO Elon Musk showcased his much-touted humanoid robot “Optimus” during the electric car maker’s “AI Day” event. The billionaire has suggested a robot company would be worth more than its automobiles, intending to grow beyond self-driving vehicles that have not yet become a reality despite his repeated pledges. A prototype of the robot stepped on stage and waved to the sitting crowd. A video showing the robot carrying a package, watering plants and moving metal bars at the automaker’s facility was presented But Mr Musk said he intended to address one of the greatest challenges artificial intelligence: how to develop a system that can replace a person. The entrepreneur, who once warned of artificial intelligence being a danger to mankind, said that Tesla intended to make sure the transition to a society in which robots performed the labor and humans got the rewards was a safe one.
