In the 1980’s, when Chuck T's were actually used for basketball shoes, a document was created through the US Department of Education called, "What Works in Education": Edited by Chester Finn. This was meant to be a manual for both teachers and parents to clearly define best practices. 
Over time, Robert Marzano dusted off this document and categorized the teaching strategies into 9 Essential High Yield Strategies. Often referred to as Marzano’s 9.  This document is still considered by many to be the gold standard of Educational Best Practice. Or as my Dad used to say, “It’s just common sense”.  Yes it may be common sensical, yet it still serves as a useful framework for teachers and parents for always reflecting on best practice.
