Weston Elementary Wildcats

School lunches: Under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) all students are entitled to 1 free breakfast and 1 free lunch every day because of the Universal Meals Bill (AB 130) passed last year; however if your student chooses to have a second breakfast or lunch, they'll be charged the adult meal prices. We ask that all parents complete the Free and Reduced lunch form this year. If families are determined to be "eligible" for Free/Reduced lunches, then our school may be entitled to additional federal funds for instructional programs. We won't be eligible if you don't fill out the forms!

Back to School Night: Parents are encouraged to attend this event to learn about what their child will be learning this school year at their grade level. The event begins with a group presentation of staff and then there are two 20 minute sessions for teachers to present grade level expectations, trip information, and the best ways to maintain communication with staff. Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, August 10 @ 6pm. The presentation of staff is held in the Multi Use Building (MUB).
This year Kona Ice will be on site for some sweet treats!

Book Fair: Our Annual Book Fair will be the week of August 14-18. The evening of Weds. 8/16 the library will have extended hours that night for families to visit. Kona Ice will be on campus that evening as well.

Parent Faculty Association (PFA): The success of our teachers is not without the support of our school families. It is truly a team effort between school staff and our families. Our Parent Faculty Association is in need of officers to fill the President and Vice President positions. All parents are welcome to attend PFA meetings. Our first meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 @ 7pm at Weston in the MUB.

Fundraising: Each year our school and Parent Faculty Association work together to fundraise for school programs and projects. Our first great fundraiser is always the annual Jog A Thon! This year the Jog A Thon will be on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023. We are in need of many parent volunteers to assist with running stations at each grade level or serving water to students as they run around the track. We are hoping to upgrade student playgrounds with new equipment, but we do need volunteers to assist with our fundraising events. Please submit your child's T Shirt size by scanning the QR codes on classroom doors at Back to School Night.

Parent Participation: A great way to learn about your child's school is to join the Parent-Teacher club (PFA), serve as a classroom volunteer or room mom, serve as a member of the School Site Council(SSC) or English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). There are many ways for working parents to help support our classroom teachers and school and we would love your help. Please email Mrs. Fereria if you are interested: lfereria@riponusd.net.

Sports: Our after school sports programs serve our 7th and 8th grade students. There are 3 sports for boys and girls: Soccer, Volleyball and Basketball. Fall sport teams begin with Girls Volleyball teams for 7th and 8th grade girls and one boys soccer team that consists of 7th and 8th grade boys. After School sports packets will be available to students the first day of school. Admission fees for all sports are $5 for adults, $1 for students with children under 5 (not in school) being free.
