Species Range of the Tumboa Plant; Subspecies and more!

Welwitschia mirabilis has eluded scientists for hundreds of years. It's characteristic anatomy and physiology is unlike that of any other plant in the world. It can live as long as 2,000 years, grows the same two leaves its entire life, and is the only extant member of its phylogenetic family. Scientists have debated for years whether this plant species is actually differentiated into subspecies, and new genetic analysis might have found the answer.
