WIM (World In Math) - Number line and Cartesian coordinate system
In Task 5 we will connect mathematics and the number line with our traditions, heritage and history. There are two options you can choose from or perhaps you may decide to do something completely different. The first option we suggest is that you present steps from a traditional dance on a number line or in the Cartesian coordinate system. Each dance step is represented by a point. With these instructions we can actually teach our partners how to dance. The second option is to present famous scientists, artists, scholars or any other significant individuals from your country. Find out their date of birth and year. The day they were born represents the X coordinate, and the month represents the Y coordinate. If the person is deceased, all numbers are negative. The year they were born will be presented on a separate number line. Choose at least five individuals to research and present your findings in a presentation along with the Cartesian coordinate system.
