4.What else do you know about different indigenous groups?.
Indigenous people are the "original collectivities, made up of communities or centers with cultural identities that distinguish them from other sectors of Ecuadorian society, governed by their own systems of social, economic, political and legal organization.
Based on these, the National Development Plan indicates that in Ecuador there are 14 nationalities and 18 peoples, "some of them with their own languages." Of these, eleven nationalities and peoples are in border areas and seven are transboundary: Shuar, Achuar, Shiwiar, Andwa, Siekopa’i, Sápara and Kichwas, in the Amazon region.

Finally, the National Development Plan indicates that poverty due to Unsatisfied Basic Needs (UBN) affects indigenous households twice more, compared to those of mestizo origin. Regarding extreme poverty, there is a 2.92 times higher incidence in indigenous households, in contrast to mestizo families.
"This implies that these populations have less access to education, decent housing with availability of basic services and have high economic dependence within the home".
