What do engineers do?

Engineers use scientific knowledge to invent, design, and build things to solve problems and achieve practical goals. But, what exactly do they do? That’s a difficult question to answer because even those in the same topic area, can do very different jobs. Here are just a few examples of engineers who work in different areas.
