Cons
It took me a lot of headaches to find the driver for my mp500, so can't recommend this setup.
Other Thoughts:
The first MP Navigator EX for MP500 driver I downloaded was a.exe file, from canon, which did not work. The driver found by trial and error on another website did not work on my system as well. Now that I've downloaded the right version of the driver, I can print, fax or scan.jpg,.tiff,.pdf,.avi, etc. However, scan is not as good as Windows Explorer scan function. Sometimes it's missing some details, but mostly it's just okay.

After I figured it out I printed a page from the internet, ripped the film out, and put it through my printer. The scan quality is awesome. Bought this after seeing it on the ad and it's a great buy. Works pretty well and is very slim. It fits under my desk perfectly. The only bad thing about it is it doesn't have a USB connection and cannot be used as a USB scanner. As it is a windows driver for the scanner, it works with anything that can read.jpg or.tif.

I just bought this model a few days ago. Installation of the software was a breeze and when I ran the driver file on it, scanning started right away with no issue. My only problem with it is that the scanning is not quite as crisp and detailed as with the HP Pro-8700 is, but it's about equal to or better than the new HP Laserjet Pro M207. I found out that the reason is that the Laserjet Pro M207 scans in color mode and the MP500 in grayscale. They both support
