Kung Fu Newbie
Kung fu is a school of martial arts with origins in the Shaolin Temple of China. It is now practiced worldwide, but not with the traditional 5 daily practice of martial arts. K.F. students instead learn a set of core principles and the core techniques of their style, with study and practice at a structured teaching academy, known as the Wing Chun Dojo. In the 1940s and 1950s, a group of Kung Fu masters (known as the Clan) came together to establish a set of modern kung fu principles and methods which they taught at their traditional Shaolin Dojo in New Jersey. This set of principles was called the new Wing Chun Dojo. Students who entered the dojo learned about the history and philosophy of the Martial Arts, as well as the core Wing Chun techniques, and how they work in conjunction to form a robust combat system.
The Wing Chun Dojo has continued to evolve as new martial arts styles have come and gone and as more styles have emerged. Today the Dojo includes more than 20 different Wing Chun styles from around the world. A Wing Chun dojo will typically consist of a Wing Chun instructor and students of all abilities. In addition to Wing Chun, most dojos include the instruction of one or more additional styles. A Wing Chun dojo will have a balance of regular and student instruction. Regular instruction will generally consist of teaching 8-10 hours of a particular form of Wing Chun. Students will attend 8-10 hours per week, usually once a week. The additional forms of Wing Chun taught at the Dojo will be different every day and have an average of around 3 hours of instruction. This means that every day the student is studying a new form.
In addition to Wing Chun, most dojos include instruction in other styles of Kung Fu, including Tai Chi, Hsing I, Hsing I, Hsing I/Fa and Maoyi, New Aji, Kendo, Karate, Jujitsu, Judo, Aikido, Boxing, Taekw
