This application is another step in the direction of making audiobooks more usable, as the creation of audio files is always a time consuming process.
This application is based on the Synchronous Audiovisual File Transfer Format (SAFT). This new format has several advantages over the old ffmpeg like format. This is the only format of audio files that can go on your old/weak/old computers. Also, this new format enables one to update the audio files without re-making the whole audiobook (as the old format would require).
This application converts your files to the SAFT format. The application is pretty fast and the files are not stored in a fixed format, but instead in an xml file. This xml file is used for managing chapters and index information.
The interface is designed to be simple, as no complex user interface is required. The only thing needed is a directory on your hard drive where you have the audiobooks you want to merge.
The application will get the ID3 tags from the files and in the same directory put the ID3 tags of the audiobook files. Then it will read the chapters from the SAFT xml file to make the chapters. Afterwards, the application will check if there are changes between the saf file and the audio file to make sure there are no problems. If there are changes, the interface will inform the user.
To finish, the application will tag the files with the ID3 tags.
