Mark N. V. Temnycky
@MTemnyckyMark Temnycky is a Ukrainian-American who has been a nonresident fellow at the Atlantic Council's Eurasia Center since December 2021. He is also an award-winning freelance journalist who has been covering American, European, and Eurasian national security, foreign policy, energy security, politics, sports, economics, and travel since February 2016. He is currently a Senior Geopolitics Contributor at Forbes, and beginning in August 2026, he will be a part-time adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Mark's articles have been published by The New York Times, Forbes, Daily Mail, The Hill, Newsweek, the Kyiv Post, the Kyiv Independent, Euronews, EUobserver, Defense News, The Times of Central Asia, The National Interest, Atlantic Council, Wilson Center, Center for European Policy Analysis, Modern War Institute, Center for Maritime Strategy, Foreign Policy Research Institute, and several other American and European news outlets and think tanks. His work has been recognized by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Ukrainian World Congress, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the International Sports Press Association, Le Moyne College, and Razom for Ukraine for his reporting on the Russia-Ukraine War as well as coverage of Eurasian affairs. In February 2026, Mark was the lead author of a report for the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff that assessed the Russian invasion of Ukraine since 2022 and its impact on U.S. and European national security. The report was distributed to the Office of the NATO Secretary General. From November 2021 to March 2024, he discussed U.S.-NATO, U.S.-Ukraine, and U.S.-Russia relations with senior government representatives from the White House, the National Security Council, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Department of State. Since 2024, he has also been invited to speak with Members of Congress on these issues. Mark is fluent in English and Ukrainian, able to read Russian, and conversant in German. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe, North America, and Asia. Mark has a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University, a Bachelor of Arts in History, with Departmental Honors, from Le Moyne College, and a Certificate in International Relations from Georgetown University.
