Hi, I'm Amanda Songer, K-2 counselor at Manteo Elementary School. I began my counseling career in 2008 when I obtained my Masters in Professional Counseling. I began working as an outpatient therapist and quickly began specializing in working with children. Although I enjoyed my time working with individual clients and their families, I began to have a deep desire to have a broader outreach. I believe that if ALL children are taught basic mental health skills like cultivating good thinking habits then they will be healthier individuals, we will have healthier communities, and ultimately a kinder world. That is why I became a school counselor. Let's change the world together!
