Rules

Wakelet promotes the free exchange of ideas and content. It is designed to allow people to share their opinions, research, thoughts, and information. We do have a few ground rules though, and they are designed to keep Wakelet free of inappropriate behaviour that are explained below.

By using the Wakelet site you confirm that you accept our Content Standards contained in these Rules and that you agree to comply with them. If you do not agree to these Rules, you must not use the Wakelet site.

Content Standards

These Content Standards apply to all content that you upload to Wakelet (“User Content”) and your use of any services and functions available on the Wakelet site from time to time which enable you to interact with Wakelet and/or other users of the Wakelet site (“Interactive Services”). User Content must in its entirety comply with all applicable local, national and international laws and regulations. The following is a list of User Content that is not allowed:

  • Defamatory, obscene, indecent, abusive, offensive, harassing, violent, hateful, inflammatory or otherwise objectionable.

  • Pornographic material, threats of violence, or discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.

  • Material that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other intellectual property or other rights of any other person.

  • Deceitful or criminally prohibited material.

  • Material promoting any illegal activity, or advocating, promoting or assisting any unlawful or fraudulent act.

  • Spam or the use of deceptive tags or links, or the embedding of malicious code.

  • Content that is harmful or potentially harmful to minors in any way.

  • Content that is threatening, abusive or otherwise invades another's privacy, or causes annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety or content that is likely to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy another person.

  • Content that personally identifies any individual who does not wish to be identified in such a way.

  • Content that registers accounts or posts content automatically, systematically, or programmatically.

This list is not exhaustive and you should exercise appropriate discretion when adding User Content to the Wakelet site to ensure that it complies with the spirit of these Content Standards.

User Content must:

  • Be accurate (where they state facts).

  • Be genuinely held (where they state opinions).

  • Comply with applicable law in the UK and in any country from which they are posted.

We reserve the right to take down any User Content in breach of these Content Standards or which we otherwise deem to be inappropriate.

Copyright and Trademark Infringement

Respect the copyrights and trademarks of others. Unless you are authorized to use someone else's copyrighted or trademarked work (either expressly or by legal exceptions and limitations like fair use), do not post the material. It is our policy to respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement as per our Terms of Service. If you wish to complain about content uploaded by other users, please contact us.

Viruses, Hacking And Other Offences

Do not misuse our site by knowingly introducing viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful. You must not attack our site by a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of service attack. By breaching this provision, you would commit a criminal offence under the U.K. Computer Misuse Act 1990. We will report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities and we will co-operate with those authorities by disclosing your identity to them. In the event of such a breach, your right to use our site will cease immediately.

Deceptive Impersonation

Don't impersonate someone else in a deceptive way. Subject to the User Content guidelines above, parody and ridicule are fine, but make clear that that's what you're doing.

Privacy Violations

Don't use Wakelet to fish for personal information in deceptive ways. Do not post content that violates others' privacy, including personally identifying or confidential information like names, credit card numbers, social security numbers, or contact information.

Phishing and Other Frauds

Do not use Wakelet to engage in phishing or fraud.

If You Break the Rules

If you violate these policies, you may receive a notice via email. If you don't explain yourself or fix the problem, your account may be suspended or permanently removed and your IP address may be blocked. We do our best to act fairly, but we always reserve the right to suspend or permanently remove accounts or remove content, without notice, for any reason, but particularly to protect our services, infrastructure, users or community.

We also reserve the right to take legal proceedings against you for reimbursement of all costs on an indemnity basis (including, but not limited to, reasonable administrative and legal costs) resulting from the breach.

We reserve the right to enforce, or not enforce, these policies at our sole discretion, and these policies don't create a duty or contractual obligation for us to act in any particular manner.

To the extent permitted by law, we exclude our liability for all action we may take in response to breaches of these Rules. The actions we may take are not limited to those described above, and we may take any other action we reasonably deem appropriate.

We also reserve the right to change these rules using the procedures laid out in our Terms of Service. You should check these Rules regularly to ensure you are aware of the Rules that apply to you at that time.

If you have questions or feedback, don't hesitate to let us know.
