 Uncheck the boxes for AutoCAD, DWG, Inventor, and eDrawings.

 Open Autocad and autocad and set your preferences in the new windows.
Then close the autocad application
When you next load autocad you should be able to open the original autocad files.
The only problem I found with this method was that some of the icon images in autocad where not available and it would not show the icons for those programs.  That was due to a recent update.  But for me, it works great and I have lost all of my original file permissions.  I have set the permissions to Read/Write to Everyone.

TAHLEQUAH — Maybe it was the time spent in the Smoky Mountains but it seems a Mountaineer, who just two seasons ago seemed to be getting closer and closer to an NCAA Division I National Championship, has seen better days.
In a full-house Cherokee Auditorium with a large contingency of media from the national wire services, the No. 5 ranked Western Reserve football team (5-0) was no match for No. 6 ranked The Citadel Bulldogs.
With the number one defense in the nation keeping the Mountaineers’ offense on the sideline, the Bulldogs cruised to a 25-7 victory in front of a capacity house that included students from the U.S. Department of Defense, the First Secretary, Adjutant General and other dignitaries.
While the victory was impressive, it wasn’t expected.
Western Reserve was the heavy favorite to be the surprise team of the week after a bye week, but a last second touchdown by The Citadel proved to be too much to overcome.
The Bulldogs dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, but were even with the Mountaineers in the first half of play. The Citadel scored on their first drive of the game on a 75-yard strike from quarterback Hunter Newton to wide receiver Seth McMillen for a touchdown.
The Bulldogs took over from there. The second half was a reversal of fortune for Western Reserve.
The Mountaineers entered the half with a 7-0
