Dear all,

Well, here we are, the final week of the academic year and the final newsletter edition! I am soaking up all the space and just having my input and no one else. I hope I do it justice.

Personally, it has been a busy week for me as we tie things off ready for next year, make preparations and, of course, wrap up the final EIS school reports. It was not all work; however, there is always time to mingle in with the students and soak up the fun and atmosphere of the last week.

An obvious highlight of the week was the Primary and Secondary Award Ceremonies, where we rewarded the students for so many different accomplishments. Some examples included a variety of certificates for Ambassadors, Eco Committee work, Headteacher Awards, Student Council work, COBIS Awards, Stars of the Term and Stars of the Year. We also had some separate celebrations and packages for our graduates which included unique EIS bespoke hoodies.

As part of the ceremonies, we also announced the final House winners. The winners got to celebrate in style in front of their peers but were also treated to donuts which were delivered in. So, the Primary House Competition winners were the Wolves. I am not sure how they keep doing it, they were lagging behind for so long and Eagles won the Sports Days, but they always seem to come through well done Kinza (House Captain) and the gang. The Secondary House Competition winners were the Tigers, so well done to Ivan (House Captain) and the team. They designed a superb flag as well, actually.

The overall winners of the EIS House Competition were, drum roll.......the Wolves! The Primary score really did help them out in Secondary, but it is what it is. Wolves win 2022/23, congratulations!

Another fascinating occurrence on the same day of the ceremonies was the digging up of the time capsule. I am not sure who reading this was part of the EIS community for the 2018/2019 year (my first year here) but we buried a capsule to be dug up some time later. I think it was originally meant for 2028 but who around us would be here? Plus, had pressure from students such as Laiba and Tikhon in Y5 who could remember the burial and were set to leave this year.

So, we did it, and students were amazed by the photographs of current (or soon to leave) students in there, as well as the articles and letters that were written. If I remember rightly, I placed a flash drive in there showing some performances from my Year 2 class. I have retrieved it and will test it out over the weekend to see if it works. Overall, an interesting and unique experience!

As I write this, we are about an hour away from our final event of the year - the Summer Concert! I have heard rehearsal songs and I know it is based on The Greatest Showman, but that is it. I hope it goes very well but I am sure it will. I remember the successes of the Halloween and Winter Concert. The latter was, perhaps, the standout event of the year in my opinion. I do know Ms Oxana and Ms Anna have worked extremely hard as usual so a huge thank you to you both, yet again!
