Welcome to the EIS Newsletter - 2024/25 - Issue No. 10!

This week has been Anti-Bullying Week at EIS and we have been reiterating why we have such a well-knit school and very low incidents of bullying. We mentioned the word respect a lot this week and that ties on nicely as it's the tagline for this year's Anti-Bullying Week - 'Choose Respect'. On Tuesday it was Odd Socks Day and Wednesday it was Pink Shirt Day. These quirky days are a good way to raise awareness about bullying, and for us to celebrate our fine record of this area. In the classrooms of both Primary and Secondary, students have been learning poems and completing various activities relating to the content. Well done to Mr. Scholtz, Ms. Martin and Mr Anthony for their contributions this week.

Friday was Pyjama Day which is, basically, a children's charity day and we raised a lot of money for Speransky Hospital. A big thank you to parents for your support in this area. I am sure the severely burned children in that hospital will benefit from all we do. I look forward to feedback from a representative in the hospital. Well done Mr. Anthony and the Student Council for your work and planning in this area. Great job!

A big shout out to Y4 and their colosseums that they completed with Ms. Sonya in Design & Technology (DT). They had been working on them since the beginning of the school year and have now completed them. They have been on display in the library since Wednesday this week. Excellent attention to detail in these exhibits, in some cases blood on the sand of the gladiatorial pit. For those who excel in DT, we salute you!

An additional opportunity arises for me to congratulate another one of our students as a Headteacher Award goes Seojin Y8 this week. I spotted her poem on our wonderful English display board in the corridor. The first thing that struck me was the shape, as it represents an hour glass. Indeed, the shape poem details the significance of the hour glass; specifically, time and how it affects our lives. What makes this shape that bit more special is that it was written in both Korean and English. Seojin allowed me the honour of reading it out loud in assembly.

Finally, a special mention to our talented siblings Priyanti Y10 and Prerona Y5 for entering the EIS Hall of Fame. Their art work was selected from across many embassies around Moscow to feature inside an official calendar. The 'I Love Russia' art competition included anyone from the age of 6 to 18. The girls were also presented with stunning certificates which they will, I am sure, cherish for a lifetime. A great achievement and something to be very proud of! The calendar now sits proudly in my office.

Overall, it has been a poignant and meaningful week, and I am glad with our efforts. Well done everyone!
