Refugees Studies in Virtual Reality
According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), there are over 70 million people who have been forced to leave their homes due to violence or persecution. Many of these people become strangers in a foreign country, searching for safety, and worried about how to belong. But the challenges of belonging do not need to fall solely on the shoulders of refugees. Each person can help foster a more inclusive environment by listening to refugee stories, recognizing the loss refugees have faced, and appreciating refugees as unique individuals. Virtual Reality is a tool intended to bridge the gap, moving us from headlines and soundbites toward a more immersive and holistic understanding of refugee experiences.
