From your Visual Studio Gallery account
Make sure you are connected to the Internet, and then follow these steps:
From the Visual Studio Gallery tab, navigate to the Xaml Helpmeet Download installation.
Download and install the Xaml Helpmeet Download installation.
Register the Visual Studio Gallery extension
Once you download and install the extension, Visual Studio will recommend you register it.
From the Visual Studio Gallery tab, navigate to the Xaml Helpmeet Registration.
Choose Install on Visual Studio Gallery.

How to install this extension in Visual Studio
After installing the Xaml Helpmeet, you may find it useful to have the option to activate the extension while you use the Visual Studio IDE.
To do that, follow these steps:
From the Extensions and Updates option, click Enable Extension and Restart Visual Studio.
To activate the extension within Visual Studio, go to the Tools menu and select Xaml Helpmeet from the list of available extensions and restart Visual Studio.

Ok, one more thing, I use vs2012 Ultimate edition and it would be nice if you can add this package into the extension gallery and make it available within the helpmeets folder in my programs folder also.

How to count generated or cached files
I'm using Asp.Net MVC and MVC 4.
I am trying to figure out a way to count the amount of files that are not cached but have been generated or saved with the application. 
Any tips, tricks, pointers, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

AFAIK, the only way to do that is to put an intermediate step in between your app and the cache to count the amount of new files.
Beware that you don't count files that are part of the web server and it's cache, but you count only the files that are generated by your app.
We're currently developing a mobile application that uses Google Maps and, as you might guess, having too many requests to the server in those cases is impacting the performance of the app. The solution that we found was quite simple: 
Use an intermediate step (such as a database) to store the info (like the number of requests we've already made)
Instead of counting the requests for the Javascript files, count the requests for the CSS and images files 
Another solution is storing the info directly inside the app (e.g. as extra field in our database) and also counting the requests there.
The solution we're using is the first one, the second approach may not be viable for your app and its requirements.
