Welcome to the EIS Newsletter - 2024/25 - Issue No. 15!

So, 2024 comes to a close very soon and this is the last entry for the year. I hope 2024 has been kind to you all and any resolutions managed to stick. It has been a very enjoyable calendar year at EIS but we now set our sights on the two remaining terms - spring and summer.

Before we get there, let's focus on this week. The obvious highlight (and, in fact, for the year so far in many ways) was the Winter Concert. It was an amazing performance in an amazing venue with an amazing audience. EIS's 'A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens. Not only valuable from a curriculum perspective but for the festive spirit and the driving message about wisdom, redemption and goodwill to our fellow humans. Superb effort from all the cast, the band, the teachers, parents, and all the way to our school office staff and nurse. Every person involved made a big difference. Naturally, an extra thank you to our Music teachers - Ms. Oxana and Ms. Anna. A massive well done, everyone!

This week saw the last of our external exams and also the completion of our autumn term reports. They look good, and the assessment data is promising. Tied to attainment is attendance so I was happy to hand our awards for those with 100% attendance on Friday. This is the first time this has happened since I have been at EIS and it is a crucial area; one that I wanted to shine a spotlight on. Friday was a special day as well because we had a snowman (House) competition. To add to all of that excitement it was a non-uniform day as a reward for wearing uniforms all term and also an early finish!

In another celebratory/recognition format, the last Headteacher Award for 2024......drum roll.......goes to Matvei Y8 - nominated by Mr. Khaled for outstanding French language results. Congratulations, young man! Matvei is the only one left from my original Y2 class of 2018/19 so it's always great to see him do well.

Have a wonderful winter break everyone, it's truly a time for family and rejoicing so, on that note, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
