This year, our annual debate explored how recent developments in Earth observation and data science can transform both our understanding of and approach to environmental challenges.

We heard case studies from Will Marshall, co-founder and CEO of Planet, Sam Adlen, chief strategy officer at Satellite Applications Catapult, and Corli Pretorius, deputy director at UNEP-WCMC.

The speakers were joined for a panel discussion by Dr Emily Shuckburgh of the British Antarctic Survey, and Defra's chief scientific adviser, Professor Ian Boyd.

The debate was chaired by BBC 4 Farming Today's Charlotte Smith.
