Welcome to the EIS Newsletter, Issue No. 20!

The final week of Spring Term 1 is over and we have finished the week in a great way. We get some rest before a big push in Spring Term 2. For now, though, let's see what we have been up to this week...

Let's begin with Headteacher Awards, as there were many once more:

Sharjil Y4 (two weeks in a row!) - some superb artwork done at home that is not displayed on my office door.
Hifza Y2 - for her home project on the 'Father of Pakistan,' which she kindly talked me through as well.
Milon Y4 - full scores in his Maths assessments - Maths genius!
Alex Y11 - for conducting himself like a gentleman all week!
Seokwon Y4 - another young boy who is showing us all how to behave very well.
Vika Y3 - for inventing an excellent recycling device.
Daniel Y3 - see below

As you can see above, some amazing achievements this week, but there is one that deserves further attention and that is Daniel from Y3. You will see why in a moment, as it's not just the reason for his Headteacher Award, but for simultaneously entering the Hall of Fame! That's right, Daniel recently became a chess champion and won the coveted prize at a local tournament! What is, perhaps, even more impressive is that Daniel won his Headteacher's Award because he earned two certificates that are usually handed out to adults: one in molecular biology and on in biomedicine! Daniel brought the tickets to my office and explained everything. Truly remarkable.

On Wednesday it was Valentine's Day. We have some photographs below, as even the teachers wore the 'colours of love,' as well as most of the students. At EIS, we approach Valentine's Day not in regards to romance but more in the sense of friendship and care. All students received Valentine's cards from friends and class members thanks to the work of the Student Council and their pink postbox! There were some excellent examples of cards which had clearly taken a lot of time and attention. A lovely day, thank you.

Finally, Friday was an early finish and also a House competition day. It was all Valentines themed, of course. It was great to see the vast majority of students wearing their House T-shirts. It is something that I really wanted to see a response in, as we do not have them on show enough so that was great to see. Needless to say, the students (and adults!) had lots of fun and a great day!
