I'm sure there are things that could be fixed, but I'd rather wait for them to be released instead of fixing it myself.

Yeah, Steam does work. It has its issues like most things, but it's still better than the "check updates" option. In fact, since this happened last night, my machine is having a complete data format and does a re-install. It seems my computer somehow got corrupt again. I'm surprised by the speed at which it's doing it, as I was able to boot it up tonight and was able to play a game before the Steam update occurred (and crashed my game). Good times, huh?
Hmm, well hopefully things start to pick up again soon.
Just in case you didn't already know it, the game is on Steam, it is out of beta, and the modding tools are in the works.
I am going to assume that the game is out of beta and any critical issues have been sorted, such as the one you mentioned. I would recommend that if you are going to play the game that you download the patch from this post and use that instead of using the built in update system. This way you are using the build that is ready for release.
Thanks for the information, and I will take a look at it when I get back from work. I was just wondering about the client since it said it was still in beta (because it was still under the beta label) and I was just curious about how everything was
