YEAR 2
This week we have yet another birthday celebration, and this time it was Marie! We had a very nice celebration on Monday that included beautiful eclairs and tarts. 
In the classroom, we were finishing off Maths before assessments next week. We had some challenges on our hands such as counting in fractions and fractions of numbers. However, it is good to be challenged and the children gain more satisfaction if they can complete the task at hand. 
In English, we looked at speech marks and how they are used to punctuate our written work. We had 5 superheroes who had empty speech bubbles to fill - we came to the rescue and added our own sentences using speech marks, of course! We also looked at words beginning with 'gn' and 'kn', as well as 'oi'/'oy' words. 
In Art, we drew a gnome and coloured his clothes in an authentic style whilst adding rainbows, butterflies, flowers etc. to the background. They turned out superb again. 
In PSHE, we looked at vitamins and nutrients, especially vitamin C. We learnt that James Lind discovered that without vitamin C the body would get scurvy so we needed to know which foods contained our precious commodity. We classified which foods had a good quota of vitamin C in a scientific table. 
Finally, in Topic we learnt about extreme weather such as tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, blizzards, monsoons and droughts. We chose three and wrote about the characteristics of each whilst creating depictions of these events. We also discovered that some of them could lead to another or exasperate matters.

RUSSIAN (Non-native). Y2 learned a few new words on the topic Fruit, vegetables and berries. We enjoyed doing interesting activities on this topic.
