As the Material of Christian Apocrypha conference approached, it quickly became clear that a large number of participants were fairly active on Twitter. Conference organizers landed on #materialapocrypha as a helpfully descriptive hashtag, and participants ultimately did an excellent job of using it. The results of that are documented here.

The fact that the conference would be tweeted was discussed among the entire group of participants at the beginning of day one. We agreed to @ each other judiciously; presenters also agreed to make a quick note if some part of their presentations were not to be tweeted (and this in fact happened several times).

Another issue (raised by Carrie Schroeder in a tweet) is the tweeting of detailed elements of an unpublished argument, which can effect graduate students in particular. I've moved two of Schroeder's tweet here (out of chronological order) as an example of how we can indicate what someone is working on, give them credit, yet not reveal their conclusions before they've had an opportunity to do so in print.
