VideInfo Utilities is an application that helps with video files and related information. It includes much more than just an information viewer for the video files.
Supported video formats include AVI, FLV, MKV, RMVB, MPG, VOB and WMV, among others.
The installation procedure does not take a long time to finish. However, users should be careful when going through the setup stages, as VideInfo Utilities offers to download and install other apps from the developer that it does not need to function within normal parameters.
The interface is as clear as it is intuitive. The main window features a toolbar at the top with several sections, including but not limited to, File, Path, File Info, IPTC Info, Device Info, Sound Info and Thumbs.
Selecting a video by opening it from the path (under File) will cause the file to be automatically loaded into the main window, accompanied by all its data; from the Bit Rate to the Thumb, among other properties. From this point, each of the available data sections can be accessed via icons in the toolbar.
While in the main window, the user can select an icon to get detailed information on the selected video or an icon to add the selected video to a playlist. The two videos' files can be compared based on various properties.
The video clip can be selected by simply dragging it directly from Explorer into the main window. This feature is very useful, as it facilitates dragging and dropping clips into playlist files.
The playlist can be saved as a new file by clicking the Playlist icon in the toolbar or as an existing one by selecting it and pressing OK.
The video's file can be opened directly in QuickTime by pressing the Video icon.
Once the playlist is full of video clips and their data, it can be opened in a regular file manager.
If a thumbnail exists for the video, it can be used to set the desired thumbnail in the main window or as a separate file by clicking the Thumbs icon. The thumbnail's file can be set as a new file or opened in a file manager.
The program's installation involves a short pause, because it seems that the program needs to install other apps from the developer. When that is done, VideInfo Utilities will be ready to work.

I've used this app before. I was a bit disappointed by the fact that it didn't show codec info for avi files. This app has a great interface, usability and is very easy to set up. That's what I was looking for. It's very easy to navigate through folders and find files. The only downside is that it doesn't have an option to show more than one file at once, so you have to scroll to the side. Once you click on the info button, it's just fine.
