My friend Ryouko gave me her copy of “Camp Buddy” many years ago and it was one of my favorite Yaoi Visual Novels. It gave me a different perspective on what a Yaoi VN can be. After “Camp Buddy” I understood how a true “Boy’s Love”/”Yaoi” Visual Novel can be.
One of the things I like most about this Visual Novel is the way it is told. It’s very reminiscent of watching a story that you’re a part of. I think that’s one of the things I like most about a Visual Novel. Because it’s like a story that you are actually experiencing.
This Visual Novel’s story is very straight forward. However, I did find myself sympathizing with Keitaro a lot. I enjoyed seeing the journey Keitaro went on throughout his life. I was also enjoying the way that the story progressed.
What I also like about this Visual Novel is that it doesn’t have any bad guys. I find it interesting that not a single person stood in the way of Keitaro and Shinobu. At the same time, I really liked how Keitaro and Shinobu fell in love with each other.
I also like how Keitaro and Shinobu are very different from each other. For example, while Keitaro is really skinny and strong, Shinobu is very full on. She’s much more a “Yaoi” than Keitaro.
A final note: I do have a few complaints about “Camp Buddy”. I really enjoyed the stories that Ryouko wrote, however I find the ending a little lame. I understand why Ryouko had to write the ending she did. However, I do wish that the ending was a little more tragic. I 3125841983
