The client is written with a custom made GTK+2 based library and a simple API based interface, although the developers are going to provide more complicated API for Python in the future.
The Noname-Client only support local network connections.
The library is small and light, and is about 3 megabytes. The compatibility is as good as the network itself. If you use the "noname-client" command on Linux, the program starts and the library is installed locally.
The client may start also on Windows systems. To do that, the client must be installed locally. Please see this guide to install the Noname Client on windows.
Noname-Client Description:
The Client part is a simple GTK+2 client. You can type the commands you would type on the command-line in the user interface, or you can also call custom python scripts.
Noname-Client can be set in the client options to work automatically, as long as the server is running.
The user interface consists of the normal general p2p users interface with the File-Search and the Web-Site, like the WinAmp Client.
While browsing the network, or searching for a file, the protocol version is shown and can be changed at any time.
An Admin toolbox is also provided, which can perform normal filesharing functions. This toolbox is called "Admin". It is provided with the client, which means you only need to install the client on Linux, Windows or Mac.
This is a very simple noname-client, however, users have already managed to develop small Python clients.
Noname-Server Description:
The server is started automatically, and can be used in two ways:
* In DNS mode, the server listens for DNS queries and responds with the top-level domain of the peer that is queried.
* In host mode, the server listens for TCP connections and responds with a list of peers that have requested the top-level domain, provided the connection address is in the list.
Noname-Server also supports different versions of the protocol. You can use the version '0.2.0'.
Noname-Server also supports a web-page for registration and management.
