Welcome to the EIS Newsletter, Issue No. 25!

All the best for Easter weekend, today being Good Friday. Thank you, Mr. Scholtz, for delivering a presentation on the Christian festival. I must say, I do miss my Easter eggs! Let's see what happens on Easter Monday as we could be in for a treat.

Speaking of Monday, it will also be April Fool's Day. Traditionally, this is a day for pranks and practical jokes. Shall we be doing something like that at EIS? Well, who knows, stranger things have happened. Watch this space!

Let's start with the handwriting competition this week as our Y11 student, Zeeshan, organised the event which involved both students and teacher, and also included gifts such as certificates, chocolate and pens. We are always proud of our older students when they take on extra-responsibilities and positively impact the whole-school community. You probably will not be surprised to hear that I awarded Zeeshan a Headteacher's Award (see below). For a visual of the competition winners. please see the photograph below.

I was invited to Mr. Fred's lesson this week which took the form of a debate about the pros and cons of tourism; my role was to be the judge and declare a result. No mean feat as we shall see. The debate was chaired by Y9's Hiba who kept time and made sure rules were abided by. She did a sterling job and we also had a member of the Debate Club present as well as Y7, to pick up some tips and evaluate the proceedings. It was such a difficult job for me to judge that even after conferring with other adults I was going to declare it a draw. In the end, I slept on it and the following day gave it to the 'Against' team for their very strong evidence backed arguments. In the end, they both won, in a way, as the students have really developed their critical thinking skills and persuasive communication skills.

Congratulations and well done to Year 1 for their wonderful assembly on 'Courage'! They were so good they did it twice, and enjoyed doing so. They remembered every line and there was some beautiful singing and acting involved. Well done boys and girls and, of course, Ms. Martin and Ms. Indira. Fortune certainly favours the brave!

Looks as though our EYFS cohort and Year 2 pupils really enjoyed their school trip to the Durov animal theatre this weekend. I look forward to seeing the photos of the animals in this newsletter edition! We will keep the theatre on our list as another trip destination in the future, for sure. Some great feedback from Ms. Waldron about this.

Zeeshan Y11 for organising and delivering the handwriting competition.
Saskia Y8 for providing an eco-related fact for the whole-school on Monday. This will become a permanent feature now.
Jehoon Y2 for always being polite, respectful and well-mannered around school.
