Valentine is starting to knock. Her first sound at the ticket window is Sanam Teri Kasam. This is a tragic love story. The film is not very new in terms of its texture but it has been made attractive by the work of two faces foraying into Hindi films.
As far as the directors are concerned, they have succeeded to a great extent in tightening the film on the scale of sentimentality. The film has definitely slipped from his hands in the last fifteen minutes, but before that, the successful spices of love stories have been used in it.
The freshness of Sanam Teri Kasam is Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hussain. While Mawra, who hails from Pakistan, looks beautiful and innocent, Harshvardhan, born and brought up in Gwalior, leaves a mark as an angry yet emotional young man.
Both the actors make a noteworthy place in the list of actors who made their Bollywood debut in 2016. Mawra as Saraswati aka Saru is the daughter of her strict father (Manish Choudhary) who obeys every order. Boys come to see this educated girl of spectacles for marriage and every time she refuses.
Because of this, Saru's younger sister is unable to get married while she is eager to take seven rounds with her boyfriend! On the other hand, Inder (Harshavardhan) has a past. He has returned after serving eight years in prison for murder. Inder and Saru's love story progresses through many twists and turns.
After a long time you see such a young love story which has simplicity. There is ease. No unnecessary provoking kisses, bikinis, bed, slut jokes, dirty talk. There is an old belief that if you succeed in making the audience cry, then success is not far away. There is a lot of scope for shedding tears in this film for those whose heart is lighter by crying.
Here the girl cries a lot. Even though she is modern and standing on her feet. The police inspector (Murli Sharma), who appears in selected scenes of the film, is also emotional. Only the girl's father is strict, who kills the daughter while she is alive because Saru was found inside Inder's house one morning in her absence, hurting her sanskars/values/feelings! The father doesn't even try to know what she was doing there?
Himesh Reshammiya's name is associated with the music of the film, but the shine is missing. Good songs are plus points in love stories, which are lacking here. The film is of 155 minutes and this length gives a feeling at times that something is over. Despite this, there is no doubt that there is family drama amidst some emotional moments of love, which can be seen with family as well.
