EYFS
This week EYFS learned the “Ee” sound in phonics, learning how to form the letter ‘Ee’, singing the ‘Eggs in the Pan’ song and finding things that begin with ‘Ee’. In Numeracy, we have counted out Chinese lanterns, divas, Mr Potato Heads and other shapes, then added on one more. Children counted out amounts after adding on one more and recording the amounts in figures on whiteboards. In our topic ‘Celebrations’, we focused on the celebration of Diwali and the story of ‘Rama and Sita’. Children enjoyed making divas out of play dough and painting rangoli patterns. Some children used the pictures to retell the story of the Nian that we learned last week and stick puppets to retell the story of ‘Rama and Sita’. EYFS love story time. This week they listened to Diwali stories and enjoyed watching the video of ‘The Gruffalo’. It is really amazing to watch our young children develop new vocabulary during story time as well as during lessons. 
EYFS loved playing in the snow this week. We had many children helping each other to build little snowmen, while Mikail filled snow into holes in the tree trunks, adding eyes to make scary creatures. Anyone entering EYFS better beware of ‘microbes’ as he has also been busy drawing germs and displaying them around the classroom with a cheeky, warning grin!  
There has been lots of self-initiated activities this week, with children choosing to make their own Chinese lanterns, play dough divas, painting, recording of numbers…This is brilliant to see as children gain confidence in knowing what they enjoy doing and choosing to do them. The team work all week has also been great- children have worked together to tidy up, make garlands, help each other into the many layers of outdoor clothes…the list goes on! Well done EYFS- You are all superstars! 
MUSIC. EYFS have been practicing Christmas songs. They also practiced copying rhythms on drums and tried the role of conductors of a percussion band!
