Dwarf Commander Not Building Bins
I had a "leads to success" article on dwarfs not being able to spend [colored]time (e.g. ninja turtles or chips) in a bank and was curious how Dwarves operate in Dwarf Fortress, so I tried playing a Dwarf commander.
In short, I just want to raise and expand my Dwarves to the point they are mining ores and making food, as I usually do with commanders. To my disappointment, Dwarf Fortress doesn't put any ores or food in my bins. I'm not sure why, but I imagine it's because for some reason Dwarf Fortress doesn't recognize Dwarves as being able to use their stolen money to buy food.
Is there a simple way to fix this, and/or will this work with future builds?

A Dwarf can't buy food with money. There is a fixed amount that they can buy, and no amount goes up with level. There is no level-up effect for this.
Though it is possible for a Dwarf to have a surplus and hoard it away in a bank.
