YEAR 1
Last Thursday, we went on our trip to VDNH Park. As you can see from the photos, we had a great time looking at all the plants and flowers. We even saw some flowers, like buttercups and tulips that we had been learning about in our science lessons! 
On Friday, we had International Day. Lily, Boris and Lelde from secondary helped us to learn some French words and even a song about the body parts of a bird in French! We also enjoyed eating croissants! We also ate pizza in Italy and imagined we were vikings in Sweden. We had great fun!
In English this week, we have been looking at a recount about a girl and her friend who visited a theme park. We answered questions about the recount and wrote sentences to re-tell what had happened.
In Maths, we looked at how we can display information in a pictogram. We read and interpreted pictograms and we drew our own about birthdays in the class. We have also recapped finding doubles and their related halves. We have also looked at how to find half of an odd number. 
In Science we have continued looking at plants. This week we have named the parts of a plant and understood their functions. We have also thought about what a plant needs to stay healthy. 
In Topic, we went on a scavenger hunt in the grounds of the school. We were looking for a variety of different things such as smooth things, rough things, man-made things. It was trickier than we thought it would be!
