Essential oil was obtained by hydrodistillation of the plant material, using a Clevenger-type apparatus for 3 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure, and the residue obtained was stored in a refrigerator at 4°C. Antifungal Activity of the Essential Oil of A. inyokernis Against Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lactis and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides A. inyokernis essential oil (AIE) was prepared using two different extraction methods (liquid-liquid and supercritical fluid extraction) and was tested against the fungal plant pathogens Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lactis and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides A. inyokernis to assess the antifungal potential of the oil of this plant. The results indicated that the essential oil obtained using supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) showed the best antifungal activity against F. oxysporum f.sp. lactis and C. gloeosporioides. The antifungal activity against F. oxysporum f.sp. lactis of the oil obtained using liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) was significantly lower than that of the oil obtained using SFE. The GC-MS analysis of the essential oil obtained using SFE showed the presence of 73 components, mostly oxygenated monoterpenes (62.34% of the total oil) and fatty acids (37.66% of the total oil). The major components of the essential oil of this plant were α-pinene (19.95%) and α-terpinene (12.42%), and 1,8-cineole (13.41%) was the principal oxygenated monoterpene. The main fatty acids found in this oil were linoleic acid (41.26%) and palmitic acid (10.43%). The oil obtained using LLE showed the presence of the following major components: α-pinene (23.82%), linalool (14.04%), myrcene (13.65%), linalool oxide (12.67%), and carvacrol (10.94%). The GC-MS analysis of the essential oil obtained using LLE showed the presence of 78 components, mostly monoterpenes (71.41% of the total oil).
