To ensure that gst video is always used when needed, gstvideo might add a gst-video-jack command line option: if this option is passed to the viewer, gstvideo will look for a suitable JACK connection (for example a JACK connection available on the local machine, or a JACK connection belonging to a remote session on a JACK server) and will pass all the output of the processed video file to the selected connection. This command-line option is available only in pre-release of gstvideo version 0.8.0.

Videos captured by gstvideo are stored by default in a ~/Videos/MyVideoCollection folder. They can be viewed by using the VideoPlayer, which is an extension of the OpenCV library (
If you intend to capture and view videos, you will need to specify the directory where to store the files using the -directory command line option. In this case, the video files are stored in the current working directory (first argument of the command line).
If you did not specify the directory where to store the files, the default is the working directory. To change the current directory, use the cd command.
