CiscoGUI is a tool that makes it easy for anyone, with no previous knowledge, to manage a Cisco host device (ICP, router, PIX, and others). CiscoGUI provides the network administrator with a consistent, easy-to-use interface with which to manage and configure Cisco ICPs and other network devices. CiscoGUI provides the following operations:
* New installation of Cisco GUI - the user must log on to the local site (if the server is remote from the client, the user must change the address), then set the user name and password and select a place where the router is located. These settings are kept during the session.
* Update of the installed version of the program - while the current version of the program is already installed and enabled, the administrator can update the installed version.
* Management of interface issues - the interface setup tab allows the administrator to easily configure an interface on the specified host.
* Status and log files - the status tab gives the administrator a visual representation of the status of all the components of the Cisco ICP. The log tab is used to view a history of all the errors that occurred during the session. The administrator can also save the current status of the device in a file that can be later used to compare a prior and a current status of the device.
CiscoGUI configuration:
CiscoGUI is a graphical interface for network administrators to manage and configure a variety of Cisco routers. The interface consists of several tabs:
* Status - This tab shows a list of all the configured interfaces of the specified host. It also indicates if there is a problem with the specified interface.
* Log - This tab lists the events that took place during the session, and if it was a successful or unsuccessful one.
* Setup - This tab is used to configure the specified interface. Through this interface, the administrator can configure the specified interface:
* User name and password of the user who has access to the device.
* Cisco router addressing format.
* For PIXs, use the Telnet, Telnet Secure, VTY, or VTY Secure password to access the PIX.
* Specify the port of the host device.
* Set one or more IP addresses to the specified interface.
* Set the MTU value on the interface.
* Set the Trunk pass through mode (Ad-Hoc mode).
* Set the Trunk mode (bridged mode).
* Select the Trunking protocol and negotiate
