Key Stage 2
YEAR 3. Year 3 has been celebrating birthdays these past few days! But before enjoying the birthday cake, students have been working well in all subject areas. Our favorite this week, has been science, where students have been delighted to see their little beans sprouting, as we talk about plants. Our class discussions also led us to understand more about roots and the functions that they serve, both to the plant, and to human's who enjoy the roots for food. Music has also been an area of interest as students are able to play on instruments and listen to some fantastic music.
YEAR 4. In English we read chapter 4 and 5 of the ‘Iron Man’ and learnt about expanded noun phrases. In Maths we explored negative numbers and perimeter and area of rectilinear shapes. In topic we labelled rivers of the world and researched key information about them.
YEAR 5. Year 5 returned to their learning after 4 days of rest, happily and amicably if a little sleepily. We have applied ourselves well particularly in our Maths, Science and Reading. 
YEAR 6. During this shorter week, Year 6 have continued to learn about World War II in Topic, concentrating on how several countries rationed food as part of the war effort. In English we began a novel study of Danny the Champion of the World and in Maths we revised aspects of number (e.g. place value, rounding, ordering) with numbers up to millions.
