Hundreds of flags, banners, trophies and other Civil War flags were printed from the original Civil War photographs taken by the Library of Congress. Theses are the ones being used in this screen saver. The images are edited and created in Microsoft Windows XP but they are compatible with Windows 2000/NT/98/95/98SE/ME/2000Server (and everything after as well) - Win9x only.
The Civil War landscape screen saver has a traditional Civil War style on a 2000 x 1600 landscape display. The images are predominantly Civil War flags with some simple Civil War landscape images mixed in for good measure, but all have historical relevance to the Civil War. The 6th Virginia Infantry was an infantry regiment that served in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. The unit was authorized by the Confederate Government on October 11, 1861, with over 2,100 recruits enlisted in Richmond, Virginia.
The 6th Virginia was assigned to the Department of East Tennessee and the Middle Military Division of the Mississippi Valley and participated in the Seven Days Battles, the Second Bull Run, Antietam, Chantilly, the Maryland Campaign, the Battle of Gettysburg, the Overland Campaign, the Battle of Wilderness, and the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House.
The 6th Virginia Infantry captured 10,000 Union soldiers as prisoners at the Battle of Gettysburg, the largest number captured for a Virginia Confederate unit.
The 6th Virginia Infantry served a total of about 7,400 military service days and sustained 2,446 military casualties. The unit surrendered at Appomattox Court House in April 1865, along with General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and effectively ended military hostilities in the American Civil War.
