X-GSmartControl provides the ability to query and control the SMART functions on HDDs.
It provides a GUI-based user interface to the Linux /bin/smartctl binary SMART tools.
X-GSmartControl can be used either via a TCP socket or via the Berkeley DB/DMAPI
To utilize the complete functionality, X-GSmartControl also provides an SMART daemon under linux which can enable/disable the SMART functions based on your parameters.

X-GSmartControl is not included in the default installation; it's available for download here:

To download the current version X-GSmartControl from the SourceForge.net server, go to the Download page. You may also find a newer version at the SourceForge.net website.
Usage:
For basic usage, go to the Download page and use the pre-compiled binary. X-GSmartControl does not require a compilation of a smartcl Linux /bin/smartctl binary.
To run X-GSmartControl via a TCP socket, use the -T option in the above command.
If you want to run X-GSmartControl via a Berkeley DB database, use the -d option in the above command. You need to install the smartcl library in order to compile X-GSmartControl. (It is automatically installed by the smartmontools package.)
If you use the -d or -T options, make sure to specify the correct SMART event port (e.g. 9 p0) or the port you configured in /etc/smartd.conf. This port must be different from the default port (default is 31013).
