“I look forward to sharing my knowledge with local golfers and helping them get the most out of their game,”

Black Bear Golf Course at Black Bear Casino Resort has hired Superior, Wisc., native and certified Hank Haney instructor Dan Walker to be its new PGA Head Golf Pro, it was announced this week. He will oversee the golf course operation, including the clubhouse, driving range and instruction. Walker is a Class A PGA professional who learned his instruction technique from Haney at his ranch in Texas, as well as renowned teaching pro Mike Bender. Haney is Tiger Woods’ former instructor and among the most well known instructors in the world. Bender has instructed Masters champion Zach Johnson among others. “I look forward to sharing my knowledge with local golfers and helping them get the most out of their game,” Walker said. “Just as important, I want to help bring this course the recognition it deserves as one of the best in the region.” Through his experience working with Haney and Bender, Walker has put together a customized instructional program designed to produce immediate results. Instruction will feature new technology, including the K-Vest teaching equipment, Zelocity Launch Monitor and the Online Skills Coach lesson software on HankHaneyPro.com. He will also offer a summer junior golf program. One of Walker’s first initiatives will be to host Demo Days where guests can test the latest equipment on the market. Guests can test out the latest TaylorMade equipment on May 22, Ping on June 4, and Nike and Cleveland Golf on June 11. Not only is Walker an experienced instructor, but he has been competing in PGA Section Tournaments where he was among the top 30 players in the Illinois Section.
