About Manu Parekh
Manu Parekh, the famous Indian artist, was born in 1939 in Ahmedabad. He graduated in 1962 from Sir Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy School of Art, Mumbai. Later, Parekh worked as an actor and stage designer in a theatre for one year. After this, he joined Weavers' Service Center, Mumbai as an art designer in 1963. 
He shifted to Kolkata in 1963, and then in 1974, he moved to New Delhi, where he worked as a Design Consultant in Handicrafts and Handlooms Export Corporation of India. Parekh left the government corporation to pursue his career as a freelance artist.
Manu Parekh’s Work
●       Manu Parekh artist paintings represented a relationship between man and nature. Parekh's work provokes users to notice the world around them through emotion, pain, and anguish. His surroundings strongly influenced him.
●       The city of Kolkata drew him towards Santiniketan and other famous Indian artists like Ram Kinkar Baij and Rabindranath Tagore. Manu Parekh was mesmerized by their work; he appreciated their art at a perpetual level than a stylistic one; it urged him to go deep into the thoughts that informed him of his oeuvre. 
●       After the death of Manu Parekh's father, the first city he visited was 'Banaras.' It played an integral role in his work as the holy city of hope and faith of tourists offered Parekh a vast number of contradictions. He performed many solo shows in Banaras, London, Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, New York. 
Folk and rural influence on Parekh
●       Manu Parekh used to visit his grandmother in Mahudha Village when he was a child. Later, he visited Sanjay Village in Gujarat, where his wife resided as a teenager. During his employment with Weavers' Service Centre, he developed a deeper understanding of folk art. 
●       Manu also visited rural belts in Bihar, Rajasthan, and Orissa and documented the traditional crafts known as Ikat and Madhubani. Today's generation speaks highly of the work he performed during that time. 
●       Parekh also worked with Ganga Devi, the famous folk painter, and Bhaskar Kulkarni, who brought folk art from mud walls to paper and from that to people's homes. 
●       What most influenced Parekh was the feisty, independent, and outspoken nature of rural women. They might not be present in the work of Parekh because he doesn't want the abstraction around women to die. He believes he would demystify them just by adding them to his canvas.
