Dear Parents,
Again, this week, we have been kept on our toes, as the school has had to continue to deal with challenges thrown at us by the pandemic! Thankfully, due to the school community’s resilience, the school programme has continued, uninterrupted! Please take note of the following announcements:

International Accreditation:

The Council of International Schools (CIS) has conferred on EIS Moscow – both West and South-West campuses – international accreditation! This is a significant achievement! It is a mark of recognition held exclusively by schools around the world that exemplify high quality standards in international education! Although there are recommendations for improvement, the CIS has some very complimentary things to say about our school:

The whole school community is commended for creating a welcoming and respectful atmosphere that promotes a supportive and positive environment for pupils’ learning and well-being.
Pupils proudly explain how they are given opportunities to share their culture and to learn about themselves and others.
The school shows strong commitment for child protection and safeguarding.
The essence of the three simple words in the mission statement – safe, happy, and challenged – ring loud and clear. It is obvious that the school is living these three attributes in every aspect of school life.

Infection Prevention Measures:

Ms Katya Parfenenko, our Admissions Manager, has sent further information about infection prevention measures to you via email. Should you have any queries about the current situation, do not hesitate to contact us at school, and we will do our best to assist you.

Skiing Afternoon/Lunchtime Club Activities:

The first of four ski/snowboard training sessions took place yesterday. Year 2 to 6 pupils thoroughly enjoyed their time mastering ski and snowboarding skills under the supervision of very competent instructors at the Lata Track. As Year 2 pupils are currently under quarantine, we will arrange with the ski school instructors to make up the training session, missed yesterday. Further details about this arrangement will be announced in due course.

Project Work:

Pupils who chose not to engage in ski/snowboarding commenced a very exciting research project on the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. This international winter multi-sport event starts today in Beijing and venues near the neighbouring towns of Yanqing and Chongli in China. This is wonderful opportunity for pupils to explore information on this very important event in the school’s IT lab!

Half-term Assessments:

As we approach the end of this half-term, in addition to ongoing formative assessment, pupils will also write Bug Club Reading Tests, and Abacus Arithmetic and Problem-solving Tests.

Calendar Adjustment:

Please be reminded that Monday, 21st and Tuesday, 22nd February are normal school days.

Parent Survey:

Thank you to parents who have responded to our appeal to complete the online parent survey. Please be reminded that the survey will close on Monday, 7th February.
