EYFS
We ended this week with Celebrations of Nationalities Day. KS1 looked at the continent of Africa with EYFS learning about South Africa, Year 1 looking at Egypt and Year 2 focusing on Kenya. EYFS learned a little about the people from South Africa, including Nelson Mandela our first Black president, as well as King Zwelithini. They looked at pictures of the Big 5, proteas and South Africa’s beautiful landscape. 
This week we learned the “Ii” sound in phonics, learning how to form the letter ‘Ii’, singing the ‘Inky the mouse is my pet’ song and finding things that begin with ‘Ii’. In Numeracy, EYFS have continued counting up to 20. They have also looked at one more, looking at the Big 5 animals from South Africa. They were able to recap 2D shapes and colour as they counted and put the animals in shapes learned. 
In our topic ‘Marvellous Me’ children have used their photographs from when they were babies to recent photos to talk about themselves. Some children were also able to finish introducing us to their families using photographs. EYFS were quite excited to paint and add glitter to make magic beans just like in the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. It has been a short, busy week and half term, so do have a restful, relaxing half term and we will see you all in November. 
RUSSIAN. In Russian EYFS focused on the letter Ш. We also watched a funny video with Aunty Owl, which helped us to learn a lot of words starting with the letter Ш. 
MUSIC. EYFS learnt African songs and accompanied themselves with movements, djembe drums and maracas.
