EYFS
This week EYFS learned the “Cc/Kk” sound in phonics, learning how to form the letter ‘Cc/Kk’, singing the ‘We are clicking castanets’ and ‘Kites are flying in the sky’ songs and finding things that begin with ‘Cc/Kk’ and end with ‘ck’. In Numeracy, EYFS have continued counting to 20 (and beyond for the children needing a challenge). They have counted out amounts and continued recording amounts in figures on whiteboards, this time using the interactive abacus. In our topic ‘Celebrations’, we focused on Chinese New Year and the Lantern Festival. Children enjoyed learning about how and why people from China celebrate Chinese New Year and loved watching videos of the Lantern Festival celebrated by Chinese people all around the world. Kian has insisted on visiting China after watching the colourful, beautiful lantern decorations, dragons and nians (mythical beasts/monsters); as well as the brightly lit lanterns rising in the sky during the Lantern Festival.
